Wood drying is the most important process in the wood production, and the energy consumption of which accounts for about 40-70%of the total energy consumption, at the same time the humidity and heat taken away takes up about 15-40%, so the heat recovery got more and more attention from people. This paper first designed and calculated the heat pipe, researched the exhaust heat recovery technology of the conventional wood drying room, built the test bed which takes the typical wick heat pipe exchanger as heat recovery unit, comparative analyzed the heat recovery efficiency of wick heat pipe exchanger under different conditions through simulation the exhaust heat condition in conventional wood drying room, and theoretical predicted the exhaust heat recovery efficiency of conventional wood drying room. The results indicated that:(1) When the hot side of temperature and relative humidity maintained a certain, the average heat recovery efficiency decreased at first and then increased with the velocity of flow increasing.(2) When the hot side velocity of flow and temperature kept steady, the heat recovery efficiency increased as the relative humidity increasing; the hot side temperature reached the top on the dew point temperature.(3) When the hot side velocity of flow and relative humidity remained stable, the heat recovery efficiency decreased along with the temperature increasing; the hot side temperature reached the top on the dew point temperature.(4) The average heat recovery efficiency decreased with the velocity of flow increasing in the low wind speed of lm/s and 2m/s, while the average heat recovery efficiency decreased at first and then increased with the velocity of flow increasing in the high wind speed of 3m/s and 4m/s. The average heat recovery efficiency of different sets of heat exchanger are:4 of 32.93%,3 of 31.37%,2 of 37.23% and 1 of 30.07%respective, and all of which reached over 30%.(5) 2 sets of heat pipe exchanger is best between both the heat recovery efficiency and economic returns.
