In recent years, peony, particularly the potted peony, sells well as the interior decoration and has become a popular commodity during the New Year festive period. The research on peony in home and abroad mainly focuses on tissue culture, flowering control and technology research on cut flowers. The research on potted peony is relatively small. The studies on the cultivation of potted peony have focused on the promoting cultivation of peony in short time and the annual study of the plant has yet to been reported. The nutrient solution is the key factor for the soilless cultivation. The peat is widely used as growing medium during the soilless cultivation in greenhouse production, but heavy exploitation of peat will seriously destroy the ecosystem and make tremendous pressure to the ecological environment.Finding new material to substitute for the peat has become to a very important task during the soilless cultivation of flowers. In this study, the author focus on choosing the suitable nutrient solution for peony from different already-available recipes. The final mixed media is based on this recipe but is the suitest mixture of coco-husk stroma with suitest density. The following is the conclusion based on the experiment on the peony cultivation:1. In the basis of international general formula Hoagland formula, the N, P content in the nutrient solution was changed in the experiment.During the 142.5-1140mg/L range, with the increase of the nitrogen content, the peony protein and the chlorophyll synthesis were promoted, the photosynthetic efficiency were improved, the growth of peony were accelerated. During the 27-108mg/L range, with the increase of the phosphorus content, the growth of the peony leaves and root were promoted.Nitrogen and Phosphorus were positive interacted. The optimum nutrition formula for peony is:Ca(NO3)2·4H2O 708 mg/L, KNO31101 mg/L, NH4NO3 807mg/L, KH2PO4 237 mg/ L, (NH4)2HPO4 230 mg/L, MgSO4·7H2O 493 mg/L.2. The basic physical and chemical properties of 20 kinds of alternative media were determined in the experiment and 8 kinds of media formula that agree to the requirements of the ideal alternative soilless culture media were screened. Experiments show that these 8 kinds of formulas are able to form a good rhizosphere environment growth and development to meet the needs of Peony. Different plants under mixed substrate media growed significantly different. The most appropriate formula for Peony is:the corn stalk organic matrix:mushroom dregs:cinder= 3:4:3.3. A cost accounting system of alternative media was established in the experiment, the price of the pre-processing alternative media was analysed and the cost of the selected eight kinds of suitable formulations was accounted. The results show that the price of the unit volume of sawdust, mushroom compost, straw, coal is lower than the perlite, vermiculite, peat, organic mixed matrix formula price substantially, per unit volume up 86.5% of the control formula, the minimum was 55.8% of the control.4. The bulk density, porosity, and other physical indicators of the alternative substrate were studied in this experiment. They are consistent with soilless media requests and can replace peat in the production of matrix. Substitution matrix acid, alkali, salt, buffering capacity is higher than the peat substrate, can form a stable environment for maximum nutrition prevent the dramatic changes in pH or EC damage to the plant roots. Fibrous poor performance of alternative fat-based quality assurance, or substrates in the course of the microorganisms remained extremely slow under the fermentation, consumption of some nutrients, cultivation and management in normal conditions, the new plants grew well, but to maintain the plant over good growth conditions, alternative substrates of peat substrate than the traditional more dependent on foreign sources of nutrition.5. Under different treatment, the chlorophyll content of the plants and plant morphology indicators do not fully coincide. Therefore, under the experimental conditions, photosynthesis can not be measured accurately and objectively reflect the growth of plants.Of point of view on the environment and resource protecting, the feasibility of the agricultural organic castoff being used as growing media to substitute the peat partially or totally was tested in this paper.Under the premises of ensuring the high quality of pot flower, the using of the organic substitute can reduce the operating costs obviously.
