The study analysed the authenticity and uniformity of waxy maize varieties from Chinese regional test in 2007 to 2009 using SSR fingerprint technology for identifying sweet and waxy maize, which was proposed based on the Maize Variety Identification Molecular Techniques (NY/T1432-2007) and DNA Fingerprint techniques on Authenticity and Uniformity of Maize Variety in National Regional Test (Temporary, 2005).The testing result of uniformity showed that the 18, 94, 15, 5 and 1 variety were in grade 1 to 5, which accounted for 13.5%, 70.7%, 11.3%, 3.8% and 0.7% in the total varieties in 2007-2009, respectively. The largest proportion of waxy maize varieties were in purity grade 2, which indicated a good purity condition. The purity in grade 4 or 5 in 2007 and 2008 accounted for 11.9% and 1.9% in total varieties, respectively, and no variety with low purity in 2009, indicated the average purity was gradually increased from 2007 to 2009. In three years, 6 varieties were disqualified with low purity, which was Sunuo632, Suiheinuo2, Yinyubainuo2, Jincainuo, Shanbainuo12 and Huaikenuo2.By identifying the authenticity of all the varieties, 3 couples were indicated the same which named different. In 2007, Sunuo528 and Sunuo5660, the same variety with different name was detected. In 2008, the officially approved variety, Sushi80502 was named Sushi80668 to partake the regional test again. In 2009, the Jinkenuo2000 (Nation approve maize No. 2006063) was theft by a breeding unit and partake in regional test named FNH001.In all, identifying the uniformity and authenticity by using DNA technology was accuracy. By DNA identification fingerprint techniques, the purity of most waxy maize varieties which partake the Chinese regional test was increased. Due to the simple method, the identification was carryed out by seed could collect enough message. Therefore, it was feasible to find out the varieties with poor purity before regional test meeting. Moreover, identifying authenticity of the varieties from Chinese regional test could detect illegal activities such as counterfeit, substitution, and protect the rights of breeding unit, seeds producers and farmers.
