Carbohydrate is an essential factor that affects the quality of flue-cured tobacco.The relationship between climatic factors and carbohydrate as the starting point for research, analysised distribution of carbohydrates in Kunming, as well as the impact on carbohydrate of different climatic factors, meanwhile, the regulation on carbohydrate and smoking quality were discussed preliminarily. As follows:1. According to the studies on the relationship between the chemical compositions and the smoking quality of 144 tobacco leaves which were sampled from different Kunming tobacco areas in 2008, the results are shown as follows:Total sugar was significant positively correlated with aroma quality, offensive odor, irritation, significant negatively correlated with the smoke consistence,extremely significant positively correlated with the taste;reducing sugar has significant negative correlation and extremely significant negative correlation with volume of aroma and smoke consistence respectively, and also,has a significant positive correlation with the taste;two sugar difference was significant positively correlated with aroma quality, offensive odor, irritation, taste, as well as total score,but not significant;nicotine and volume of aroma,smoke consistence has significant positive relationship,negatively correlated with taste;sugar-nicotine ratio was negatively correlated with volume of aroma and smoke consistence,positively correlated with flavor;starch and volume of aroma,smoke consistence were negatively correlated, but not significant level.2. The correlation between carbohydrate and climatic factors was studied preliminarily, as well as the distribution of carbohydrates in Kunming, The results are as follows:â‘ the distribution of carbohydrate in Kunming was clarified.â‘¡Lighting hours has the greatest impact on the Kunming Tobacco compared with accumulated temperature and rainfall. Espeacially the lighting hours in July and total lighting hours.3. Y87 as experimental material,low-light sress was did for different time,for study the effect on carbohydrate and smoking quality. The results are as follows:â‘ low-light stress reduced starch, total sugar and reducing sugar, increased the content of nicotine, the effect on glucose and fructose is not significant.â‘¡Low light stress increased aroma volume,physiological strength,combustibility,while decreasing aroma quality,smoke consistence,flammability,the effect on taste and ash color is not significant.Conclusively,low-light stress is not conducive to the smoking quality of flue-cured tobacco.
