Studies On Breeding And Cultivation Of Zhengshen 1 New Variety Of Carrot

Carrot with high nutrition and medicine, rich in many nutrients, especially in content-rich vitamin A (carotene) , is well received by consumers, and widely cultivated in the world.With quite late carrot breeding , and without good breakthrough varieties in carrot cross-breeding, Carrot market share is small in China;well import carrot seeds with high costs has not better commodity for domestic production and consumption market.Through extensive investigation and research we decide to breed the new variety of carrot with cylindrical, smooth root shape, red skin,red core, red meat,and high quality which is most popular in market by strain selection and group selection.We have extensively collected fine carrot varieties at home and abroad from 1988, and with traditional breeding method, by strict test species, after sixth generation plant breeding, third generation hybrid breeding, second generation of varieties of regional test ,three years of pilot production, quality analysis, and resistance identificationin Henan Province, sucessfuly breeded the first new variety of carrot Zhengshen 1 in Henan Province.This variety has the following outstanding advantages:1,good commodity properties with fleshy root ,red skin, red meat, red core, cylindrical shape and fine center column.2, good quality with carotene 35.71mg/kg, Vc 5.99mg/kg, total sugar 6.91%, protein 0.7978%.3, high-yield:general yield 4995.8kg/667m2, up to more than 6000kg/667m2,normally higher 16.7% to Kuroda, Japan's new five-inch carrot.4, high commodity rate: General fleshy root commodity 85.3%, 16.8% higher to to Kuroda, Japan's new five-inch carrot.5, Disease resistance: Anti-carrot main diseases as black spot, powdery mildew, rot etc.To excellent characteristics, plant efficiency in field, Cultivation technology of Zhengshen 1 was tested ,as the past flat-furrow cultivation to high ridge cultivation.Result proved such method can increase yield , fleshy root commodity rate and commodity characteristics.To avoiding the degradation process in promoting,breeding technology of Zhengshen 1 as off-site seed and forced pruning (that is,left main branch and the four lateral branches) was carried out. Test demonstrated such technology can get higher yield, purity ,germination rate, and lower production costs.At present, Zhengshen 1 new variety of carrot has been promoted total of 80000hm2, nearly 300 million yuan new total social cost in China.Experts from Science and Technology Department of Henan Province identified Zhengshen 1 research ranked the domestic varieties of the same type study.
