The Study On Growth And Fruits Of 7 Blackberry Cultivars Introduced In Ya'an, Sichuan Province

Blackberry is a kind of bacca plants,belonging to Rubus of Rosaceae,it is an important industrial tree for its fruit.It has a good ecological adaptability and abundant nutrition.Especially the contents of VE and SOD are the highest of all fruits. Their fruit belongs to high potassium hyponatremia type.In recent years,Blackberry is popular in Europe and the United States,So Blackberry is called the third generation fruit trees and have broad prospects of development.In order to understand the adaptability of Blackberry in Ya'an, Sichuan province, and to find out the suitable Blackberries which could be planted in introduced region and other regions with similar climate,seven Blackberry cultivars have been introduced from Chinese Academy of Forestry on November 2004. In the present study, the growth character, blooming and bearing habit, and fruit quality of these introduced Blackberries were investigated. And the same time, in order to find out the methods to achieve high quality, the fertilizer test and influence of different types and concentrations of plant growth regulator for basal branch of Blackberry were studied in the cultivar of 'Arapaho'which has the best growth potential.The results are as follows:1. Two-year continuous systematical observation has been made on seven Blackberry cultivars,the result showed that seven Blackberry cultivars can grow normally and set fruits in Ya'an, compared with those introduced to Beijing,due to their early budding while late or even fail to leaf-falling,their growing season became longer.The longer growing season is good for photosynthesis and accumulation of carbohydrate of trees.2. All of these seven Blackberry cultivars can grow well in Ya'an, and'Arapaho'was the best cultivar than others,it had strong growth vigor,high yields, bigger fruit, and stronger pest resistance, so it could be cultivated in introduced region and other regions with similar climate,while other cultivars should be cultivated carefully.Rainy and drought in summer had become the major limiting factors for the development of BlackBerry in Ya'an.The continuous systematical observation indicated that the planting density of BlackBerry in introduced region and other regions with similar climate should between 0.5×1.0m and 1.0×2.0m and the fertilizer and water management should be strengthened, especially in the summer.3. The fertilizer test showed that the fruit quality would be improved by increasing the fertilizer of phosphate and potash, and the same time the contents of Vc would be increased significantly.4. Different types and concentrations of plant growth regulator could suppress the growth of basal branch and increase branches of Blackberry.The effect becomes more significant with the increasing concentration,but the treatment effect of higher concentrations remain to be further studied.
