Objective To study the relationship between the risk stratification in hypertension and the levels of plasma ADM,ET-1,CGRP and ANP.Methods 80 essential hypertensives were randomly recruited and divided into 4 groupsrthe low risk group, the medium risk group, the high risk group, the very high risk group,20 healthy persons recruited as the control group. The levels of plasma ADM,ET-1,CGRP and ANP were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results The levels of plasma ADM,ET-1,ANP increased significantly in EH subjects compared to those in the control group (t=5.824~28.945,P<0.01).The levels of plasma CGRP decreased significantly compared to those in the control group(t=4.139~12.668,PO.01).In EH subjects, there were no significant differences in the levels of plasma ADM,CGRP,ET-1 and ANP between the low risk group and the medium risk group(t=0.299-1.883,P>0.05).There were significant differences in the levels of plasma ADM,ET-1,ANP and CGRP among the low risk group and the high risk group, the very high risk group (t=4.032~15.649,P<0.01).There were significant differences in the levels of plasma ADM,ET-1,ANP and CGRP among the medium risk group and the high risk group, the very high risk group.(t=2.818-15.993,P<0.01).There were significant differences in the levels of plasma ADM,ET-1 and CGRP between the high risk group and the very high risk group (t=3.324-6.510,P<0.01).There were no significant difference in the levels of plasma ANP between the high risk group and the very high risk group(t=0.869,P>0.05).There were positive correlations among the levels of plasma ADM and ET-l,ANP(r=0.850;0.708,P<0.01).There were negative correlationsbetween the levels of plasma ADM and CGRP(r=0.742,P<0.01).There were positive correlations between the levels of plasma ET-1 and ANP(r=0.712,P<0.01).There were negative correlations between the levels of plasma ET-1 and CGRP(r=0.687,P<0.01).Conclusions ADM,ET-1,CGRP and ANP serving as vasoactive peptides involved in the pathophysiology of essential hypertension. The levels of plasma ADM,CGRP,ANP and ET-1 could reflect the risk stratification in essential hypertension ,and could be as a marker for risk stratification.
