In this subject, the purpose is to study the nape-acupuncture therapy for treatment of pseudobulbar palsy according to the acupoint property of "nearby-action" . Swallowing function and linguistic function were used as the major observation indexes. Six patients with pseudobulbar palsy which were caused by cerebravascular disease after treatment were compared with themselves before treatment. In the same time, the relation between the disease causes, the age and the curative effect was also studied . The results: (1) Swallowing function elevated over three degrees after treatment has a significant difference (X2=39.47, P<0.05) compared with that before treatment;(2)Linguistic function elevated over three degrees after treatment has a significant different (X2=40.75, P<0.05) compared with that before treatment. (3) The curative effect was better for patients younger or with the shorter disease course. From the above results, it was indicated that the curative effect of the nape-acupuncture for pseudobulbar palsy was good. The mechanism of the nape-acupuncture therapy has many facts, such as: recovering the pharynx reflex, raising the patients cerebral cell's excitation, improving the cerebral blood circulation in focus.
