To investigate the clinical significance of several serum tumor markers in the diagnosis of lung cancer.MethodThe levels of TSGF, CEA, CYFRA21-1 and NSE in 84 patients with lung cancer in different TNM stages and 41 patients with benign lung diseases were measured with RIA , Chromatometry chemoluminescence. ELISA and biochemoluminescence methods respectively and work out the sensitivity.ResultSerum concentrations of several kinds of tumor marker in patients with lung cancer were significantly higher than those with benign lung diseases.The serum concentrations of CYFRA21-1 and CEA in lung cancer patients are (13.69±19.70) and (14.94±25.08) respectively,but those of CYFRA21-1 and CEA in benign lung diseases patients are(0.94±0.89) and (1.78±1.17). The difference was highly significant (P<0.01). The difference of the serum concentrations of NSE and TSGF in the patients with lung cancerwas also significantly higher than those with benign lung diseases (P<0.05).1. The sensitivity and accuracy of TSGF is the highest (77.38% and 76%) and the specificity of CEA is the highest (97.50%) in the diagnosis of lung cancer. The sensitivity of CYFRA21-1 is the highest (67.31%) in squamous carcinoma (SQ). The sensitivity of CEA is the highest (75.00%) in adenocarcinoma (AC). The sensitivity of NSE is the highest (62.50%) in small cell lung cancer(SCLC). The sensitivity of TSGF had no relationship with lung cancer subtypes.2. The sensitivity of the combination of several serum tumor markers is higher than that of one marker in the diagnosis of lung cancer. The sensitivity and accuracy of the combination of CEA and TSGF is the highest (86.91% and 82.40%). The specificity of the combination of CYFRA21-1 and CEA is the highest (92.7%). The sensitivity and accuracy of the combination of CEA, NSE and TSGF is the highest (90.47% and 81.60%). The specificity of the combination of CYFRA21-1, CEA and NSE is the highest (82.93%). The combination of CYFRA21-1, CEA, NSE and TSGF is the best. The sensitivity is 91.67% . The specificity is closely 70%, and the accuracy is 82.40%.Conclusion1. Serum concentrations of CYFRA21-1, CEA, NSE and TSGF are helpful in diagnosis of lung cancer.2. The sensitivity and accuracy of TSGF is the highest and thespecificity of CEA is the highest in lung cancer patients. CYFRA21-1 is the best tumor marker in squamous carcinoma. CEA is the best tumor marker in adenocarcinoma, NSE is the best tumor marker in small cell lung cancer.3. The sensitivity and specificity of the combination of serum several tumor markers is higher than that of one marker in the diagnosis of lung cancer .
