| 1 AimTo seek better solutions to treat Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and discover the immunology mechanism of UC ,this thesis summarized the literatures of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)and the western medicine on UC and approached the two methods of TCM which were the warming and astringing the intestines and the warming and precipitating the intestines.2 Methods2.1 Theory study part:In the summary of the study of modern western medicine on UC, this thesis mainly systematically presented the immune mechanism of UC, and it reviewed what TCM thought about the etiology and pathology of UC, and summarized the present condition of treatment and experiments of TCM. 2. 2 Experimental study part: The UC rat model was induced by TNBS/ethanol, and divided 5 groups: normal group: 30 rats were given distilled water by mouth in 2. Sml/day for 4 weeks; model group: 30 rats were given distilled water by mouth in 2. 5ml/day for 4weeks;Wenpi soup treatment group:30 rats were given the herbal ,Wenpi soup by mouth in 2. Sml/day for 4 weeks; Zhenrenyangzang soup treatment group: 30 rats were given the herbal, Zhenrenyangzang soup by mouth in 2. Sml/day for 4weeks; Sulfasalazine treatment group: 30 rats were given Sulfasalazine by mouth in 0. 267g /kg/day for 4 weeks. In three different period (week 1, week 2 and week 4), we observed that: (1) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to general status and weight of UC model Rats;(2) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to LT of UC model Rats;(3) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to CIC of UC model Rats;(4) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to IL-8 of UC model Rats;(5) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to TNF-ctof UC model Rats;(6) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to EGF of UC model Rats; ( 7) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to Thl/Th2 of UC model Rats;(8) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to MPO of UC model Rats;(9) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to MPO of UC model Rats;(10) Effect of the methods of treatment of TCM to histopathology of UC model Rats.3 Results3. 1 Theory study part:3. 1. 1 Study of western medicine on the mechanism of UCThe mechanism of UC has not been clear very completely, which makes the therapy of UC more difficultly. In recent years ,most researchers think many elements, such as immunology, inheritance, infection and psychology et., may induce UC, and among them abnormal immunology is considered as a very radical element. Most results of the reseach have proved that the balance of CD4/CD8 in UC is broken and regulation function of CDS decreases , which make immunology reaction not be controlled. And then the study about the mechanism of UC has been focused on the broken balance of Th and Ts. In the present time , the emphasis has been put on Thl/Th2, which was thought as a key point in UC. In addition, Cytokines , like MPO, IL-8, TNF-ocand EGF, also join the UC. And NO also plays a key role in the inflammatory of UC. But the accurate the mechanism of UC still needs to be further reseached .3. 1. 2 Study of TCM on UCIn recent years, the study of TCM on UC is very popular, and it is mainly based on the accent literatures about the diseases which have similar symptoms as UC, for example Xiuxili, Xiexie, Liji , Changfeng, Xiaxue and Zangdu . It is thought that the main ecology of UC is deficient spleen, external evil ,taxation fatigue, dietary irregularities and affect damage and that laws of pathogenesis are mainly spleen deficiency, damp and heat , static blood and liver qi depression. As for treatment in UC, supplanting spleen and transforming dampness, clearing heat and transforming dampness, activating blood and transforming stasis and soothing liver and regulating qi have been used wildly.
