Officinal Study On Viburnum Sargentii Koehne

Viburnum sargentii Koehne has been used as folk herbal drugs in China and mainly distributes to Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning province and so on. It tastes sweet and bitter. The twig, leaf and fruit of Viburnum sargentii Koehne are all medicinal parts. The twig is mainly used for the rheumatoid arthritis and injuries from falls; the leaf is used for the skin disease; and the fruit is used for the cough. As a folk herbal drug in the TCM, it has been extensively used for a long time. While in the modern pharmacological and chemical studies, the interrelated studies on the fruit of Viburnum sargentii Koehne are not found. So the author of this article has studied on the fruit of Viburnum sargentiiKoehne.After the studies on the fruit of Viburnum sargentii Koehne, it is showed that it has the effect to the cough and it has no toxicity; The active part is the acidity part. Through the GC-MS, we obtain 23 compounds from the volatile oil. By HPLC analytical method, the content of chlorogenic acid is 0.82%.The study of this article will establish the academic base for the exploitation and utilizing of the crude officinal resource, the developing of a new medicine for the cough and looking for the officinal plant that contains abundant chlorogenic acid.
