Objective: To investigate the anti-cancer effects of the "polypeptide 024" on transplanted tumor in mice and on human cancer cell lines and advanced search for theirs mechanisms. Methods:The MTT assay was used to examine the growth inhibition of "polypeptide 024" on six human cancer cell lines. Effects of "polypeptide 024" on Bel7402 cell line cell cycle were analyzed by FCM. infrastructure was determined by transmission electron micrograph. The effects of treatment on survival of animal were observed using ascites tumor-bearing mice for there times. The mechanisms were continued to be researched from activating function of immune system, and the immune function was detected by T lymphocyte transformation and activity of NK cells.Result: There were inhibitory effects of "polypeptide 024" on proliferation of six human cancer lines with a dose-effect and time-effect relationship ; DNA contents of treatmented-cells were found to be arrested in Gi phase under fluorescent microscope ;Typical morphological changes of apoptosis such as apoptic cell were found electron microscopes, "polypeptide 024" can increase the life span of ascites tumor-bearing mice by 55 % ?0 %, specially the 80 μ g/ml can significantly increase the life span by 58%. "polypeptide 024" can enhance immune Function of H22 cancer ,which was increasing T lymphocyte transformation and activity of NK cells.. Conclusion: "Polypeptide 024" had anticancer effects which were exerted by enhancing the directed cytostasic action and. immune function...
