Objective To study the clinical significance of expression of CD44v6 and nm23-H1 in cholangiocarcinoma and relationship between CD44v6 and nm23-H1. Methods To detect the expression of CD44v6 and nm23-H1 in 49 cases of cholangiocarcinoma and 16 cases of benign bile duct lesion by immunohistochemical method. The relationship between the expression and clinical pathology was analyzed. Results (1)The expression rate of CD44v6 in cholangiocarcinoma (69.4%,34/49)was significantly higher than that in benign bile duct lesion (18.75%,3/16)(P<0.01);the expression of CD44v6 was correlated with clinical stage, matcstasis and prognosis in cholangiocarcinoma (all P<0.05),and was not correlated with sex,age,tumor dimension,position and histological gradc(all P>0.05). (2)The expression rate of nm23-H1 was 53.11%(26/49)in cholangiocarcinoma and significantly lower than that in benign bile duct lesion (87.5%,14/16) (P<0.05).Thc esprcssion of nm23-Hl was correlated with histologic grade,clinical stage, metastasis and prognosis of cholangiocarcinoma (all P<0.05), and was not correlated with scx,age,tumor dimension and position of cholangiocarcinoma (all P>0.05).(3)The CD44v6 expression was negatively correlated with nm23-H1 expression in . cholangiocarcinoma (P<0.05,r=-0.87). Conclusion The overexpression of CD44v6 was correlated with clinicd stage,metastasis and prognosis.The low-expression of nm23-H1 was correlated with histological grade, clinical stage, metastasis and prognosis. CD44v6 and nm23-H1 might play an important role in. the invasion and metastasis of cholangiocarcinoma.
