Objective: In order to investigate the relationship between expression of CD44v6, MMP-2 and metastasis, invasion, histological type, differentiation grades, as well as TNM stages in human cholangiocarcinoma cases; to investigate the possible influence and their significance of CD44v6 and MMP-2 in the process of cholangiocarcinoma genesis and development in order to provide theoretical basis for clinical therapy of cholangiocarcinoma; to investigate the expression of CD44v6 and MMP-2 in extrahepatic biliary duct non-carcinoma tissues.Method: in this study we tested the expression of CD44v6 and MMP-2 with anti-CD44v6, anti-MMP-2 murine monoclonal antibody in 45 extrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas and 10 non-carcinoma specimens. Patients with cholangiocarcinoma did not receive any anti-neoplastic therapy before the operation. Specimens formalin fixed, paraffin embedded, were cut into 4μm consecutive slices and used for S-P (Streptavidin/Peroxidase) immunohistochemical staining. All data were tested by x~2-test or Spearman rank correlation test. P<0.05 was recognized as statistical significance. Results: on cell membrane and, or in cytoplasm stained...
