Objective To analysis direct effects of climate factor on the aggravation of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Taiyuan area. Methods (1)Total 1496 cases of RHD were surveyed who had been inpatients in department of cardiolog from 1979 to 2003 ,Charts about the annual number of aggravation of inpatients of RHD, annual temperature, annual humidity, air pressure were drawn to reveal the possible relation among them. (2) 269 subjects were surveyed from 1979 to 2003, they were analyzed with constituent ratio to reveal whether the seasonal aggravation of RHD was related with seasonal temperature, seasonal humidity, seasonal wind and seasonal air pressure or not ; they were analyzed with Generalized Additive Model to reveal whether the weekly aggravation of RHD was related with weekly temperature, weekly humidity, weekly wind and weekly air pressure or not ; Results (1) the aggravation of RHD had adverse correlation with annual air pressure , but had hardly any relation with annual temperature and humidity over the past 25 year from 1979 to 2003. (2)from 1999 to 2003, (1)the aggravation ratio of RHD in springtime, summertime, autumn, wintertime were 13.4%, 24.5%, 31.1%, 32.0%,respectively.The effects of seasonal temperature to the aggravation of RHD, the aggravation ratio of RHD in wintertime with the lowest temperature was the highest, while that in summertime with the highest temperature was the higher , in springtime and autumn with the modest temperature, the aggravation ratio with RHD inspringtime was the lowest, but the aggravation ratio of RHD was even higher. It showed that seasonal temperature had hardly any relation with the aggravation ratio of RHD. The effects of seasonal humidity and seasonal wind to the aggravation of RHD, the aggravation ratio of RHD was the lowest with the strongest wind velocity and the lowest humidity in springtime, higher with the middle wind velocity and humidity, even higher with the weak wind velocity and the highest humidity in autumn, the aggravation of RHD had part correlation with wind velocity and humidity, it was showed that the aggravation of RHD had part correlation with seasonal wind and humidity in springtime, summertime and autumn, but that in wintertime is exception. The effects of seasona I air pressure to the aggravation of RHD, the aggravation ratio of RHD were high in winter and autumn with the high air pressure, higher in summertime with the low air pressure, the lowest in springtime with modest pressure, the phenomenon indicated that the aggravation ratio of RHD was the lowest under modest air pressure.(2) weekly temperature had linear relation with the aggravation ratio of RHD. Conclusion The aggravation of RHD was related to pressure, part related to wind and humidity, temperature.
