Objective To investigate the relationship between the insulin resistance of hypertension and the plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) and choice the best therapy for the patients with hypertension and insulin resistance. Methods 160 patients with hypertension were divided into 3 groups by FBG and 2HBG. NGT: FBG<7.0mmol/L and 2HBG<7.8mmol/L; IGT: FBG<7.0mmol/L and 7.8≤2HBG<11.1mmol/L; DM: FBG≥7.0mmol/L and/or 2HBG≥11.1mmol/L .PAI-1 was measured by ELASA. FBG and 2HBG were measured by electrode. Blood-pressure was measured by the WHO midline. Results ①Results showed that there were great differences of 2HBG and PAI-1 in three groups but not on SBP, DBP. FBG of DM was different with NGT and IGT. Age of NGT was different with IGT and DM. PAI-1 was rising with Age, SBP, DBP and 2HBG. ②ANOVA showed that there were significant differences of 2HBG and PAI-1 in three groups(P<0.01), but not on SBP, DBP(P>0.05). ③Stepwise regression suggested a regression equation PAI-1=-11.032+0.139×Age+0. 0736×SBP+0.108×DBP+1.972×2HBG.Conclusion ① PAI-1 was positively related to the insulin resistance of hypertension. Blood-pressure-lowering therapy that could improve endogenous fibrinolytic activity is beneficial to the patients with hypertension and insulin resistance. ② PAI-1 mainly depends on Age, SBP , DBP and 2HBG.
