Objective:Comparing the associated factors of acute osteofascial compartment syndrome (AOCS),we can not only diagnosis the AOCS earlier, but also prevent and treat it on time. Method:We have Analysed the common condition of 275 AOCS patients treated in our orthopedic department during 1983 to 2003. Looking for the relation of each factor to AOCS. Results:In the group ,the occuration of AOCS is associated with four point: age,sex,injury-cause and injury part of the body. Young men who is usually under 40 years of age, with high energy injuries in forearm and lower leg, are in the risk group. (1)Causes of injury: tissue –crushing with fracture in working was the most(38.55%), followed by road-traffic-accident (RTA) (33.45%) .All of them are high-energy-injury and tissue-crushing injury. (2) injurying part of body : AOCS which had taken place in forearm was 149 patients(48.38%), and in leg was 103 patients (33.44%). (3) sex facter: 228 patients(82.91%) was men while 47 patients(17.09%) was women. (4) age facter: 66 patients was in 0—10 years old(23.27%), 69 patients was in 11—20 years old(25.09%), 63 patients was in 21—30 years old(22.91%), 50 patients was in 31—40 years old(18.18%). All of them was 89.46 per 100. Conclusion:The data show that the people who is a man under 40 years old, with high-energh-injury and tissue-crushing injury in forearm and leg was at risk of acute compartment syndrome. Awareness of the risk facter of patients with AOCS may reduce delay in diagniosis. Monitoring the sign of special patients can increase the early-diagnosis and cure rate.
