ObjectiveCyclooxygenase(COX) , is a limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of prosta-gladlins. There are two types of cyclooxygenase. Cox - 1 is constitutively expressed by all the cells and is widely distributated within the body. COX - 2 is not normally expressed but can be induced by inflammatory stimulations. Many factors may modulate the expression of COX - 2, including growth factors, cytokines, inflammatory mediators, carcinogens and some nuclear factors such as NF - kB.Mycosis fungoides is a rare primary cutaneous T cell carcinoma with a chronic course. Some consider it as a malignant change after a long period of inflammatory stimulations. While others believe that it is a malignant disease from the on - set. Studied have shown that many types of cancer cells can express high levels of COX - 2, including breast cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the skin and other tissues, and adenocarcinomas. These findings indicated that COX -2 is associated with the growth and progression of cancers. Indeed COX -2 inhibitors have been used clinically in the prevention and treatment of malignant cancers. Whatever the case may be, the expression of COX - 2 by MF cells might provide a point of intervention that might assess the progression of this low malignant disease.Materials and MethodsFifteen cases of MF patients, male 12 cases, female 3 cases, were biopsied...
