| Diabetic nephropathy is one of common and serious complications of diabetes mellitus. There is no effective method to prevent its deterioration at present. DM patients will only live 7 years after going into clinical-stage DN. This thesis is a summary of Chinese Traditional and Western medicine study on name, etiological, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of diabetic nephropathy. Through the clinical observation, we think that Tang-shen Decoction has striking effect on treating clinical-stage DN. 60 patients with clinical-stage DN whose symptoms and signs belong to deficiency of spleen and Kidney with dampness and blood-stasis were divided into 2 groups: the treatment group (30 patients) was treated with Tang-shen Decoction. The control group (30 patients) was treated with Huang-kui capsule. The 2 groups were given basic treatments at the same time. The TCM syndromes were observed. Moreover, FPG, PBG, HbAIc, 24hupq, Scr, Ccr, blood lipid and the index level of blood rheology were measured and compared before and after treatment. The results indicate that Tang-shen Decoction can: (1)improve symptoms of patients with clinical-stage DN; (2)regulate blood glucose and lipid metabolism; (3) improve abnormal blood rheology and microcirculation, defer development of glomerulosclerosis; (4) obviously decrease urinary protein excretion, regulate glomerular filtration function, protect nephron and defer DN development .
