| Objective: To study the concentration of transforming growthfactor-alpha(TGF-α) and transforming growthfactor-beta1(TGF-β1) in serum in patients with bile ductcarcinoma and analyse their clinical significance.Methods: The concentration of TGF-αin bile duct carcinomaserum of 34 patients were determined by means ofradioimmunoassay(RIA) and the concentration of TGF-β1 inthem were measured with enzyme-linked immuno-sorbentassay(ELISA). Serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 of 20 patients withCholelithiasis with icterus and 10 healthy people were measuredwith the same way.Inadition 13 serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 levelof patients with bile duct carcinoma treated with radicaloperation was measured 10d after operation to contrasted withthat of preoperative.Expression of TGF-αand TGF-β1 in 17pathological section of bile duct carcinoma was determined byimmunohistochemical method.Result:①The concentration of serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 of these groupsas the following table 1:notes: compaired with the contrast groups ,p<0.05②There was remarkable positive correlation between serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 of patients with bile duct carcinoma as linearcorrelation analysis ,r=0.723(P<0.05);③The relationship between serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 of patientswith bile duct carcinoma and clinical substage is expressed intable 2:④Preoperative and postoperative serum TGF-αand TGF-β1level is expressed in table 3:preoperative 13 13.66+6.06 125.80+40.56postoperative 13 9.63+1.43 92.75+23.56 Conclusion:⑴The serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 level of patients with bile duct carcinoma was higher than that of the contrast groups;⑵The serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 level of patients with bile ductcarcinoma was correlated with their clinical substage, levelof advanced stage patients was higher than that of early stagepatients.⑶There was no correlation between serum TGF-αand TGF-β1level of patients with bile duct carcinoma and sex or ageof patients;⑷The serum TGF-αand TGF-β1 level of patients with bile duct⑸There was correlation between expression of TGF-αand TGF-β1 and bile duct carcinoma differentiation.Thedifferentiation was poorer,the positive rate was higher.
