Viral myocarditis ( VMC) is a frequently seen clinical heart disease, with an increasing incidence in recent years, but its mechanism has been unclear. Currently, there is a shortage of effective treatment for VMC. Support treatments also lack satisfactory result. With growing research, Chinese herb medicine (such as Radix Astragali herb) and Integration of Traditional are very much effective for VMC, which have presented promising prospects. Associate professor Jin Xianchun has obtained good efficacy by using Heart Nourishing recipe in treating VMC. This research focused on making improvement on Heart Nourishing recipe, experimenting its granular form, which was more convenient for preservation and transportation. This research also conducted experiment on VMC model mice by using Heart Nourishing granular. In the production process, original herbs were cooked, condensed, pulverized, and desiccated into granular form. In the quality control, a thin-layer chromatography evaluation methodology was established for main ingredient Radix Astragali and supplemental ingredient Radix Ophiopogonis. Thin layer scanning was used to test the content of Astragaloside IV. In the mice experiment, Balb/c mice abdominal injection of CVB3 were conducted to produce VMC animal model. Then the mice were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. Treatment group was given Heart Nourishing solution. Control group was given the same quantity Physiological saline. Efficacy was evaluated through enzyme examination, virus isolation, tissue microscope test, and transmission electron microscope test. Results The granular was to fit with the requirement of China Pharmacopeia. The result of the experiment was displayed which the survival rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group. There was significant difference(P<0.05)between the two groups in the enzyme labeled compound assay, however, no difference was found between the two groups in the virus isolation test. Compared with the control group, there was a significant remission in the myocatdial pathological change integration treatment group(P<0.05)and significant remission was found in the treatment group under the electron microscope. Conclusion The preparation technology is reasonable and applicable. The quality of preparation could be well controlled by quality criteria. Heart nourishing granule possess some curative effects on viral myocarditis model mice.
