Research On Influential Factors Of Heroin Users Among Han Ethnic, The Uygur Ethnic, Hui Ethnic Groups In Two City, Xinjiang

Objective: In order to explore drug taking condition and influential factors of heroin users among three ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Methods: Status of 384 drug addicts (case group) and 419 normal people (control group ) were investigated by questionnaire to compare AIDS knowledge, previous and current drug abuse and psychological status, to assess the relation of influential factors to drug abusing by non-condition Logistic regression. Results: Mean age of drug addicts is ( 30.62±5.74) years old , and mean age of the first time attempting drug is (30.62±5.74) years old .The result of Logistic regression on heroin users of Han ethnic group shows the influential factors of abusing are gender, smoking , taking Marijuana history, ever going lockup, non-intact families, low self - esteem. The influential factors on the Uygur ethnic group are bibulosity, taking Marijuana , ever going lockup, non-intact families, score of self - esteem and 1 total score of SCL-90. Conclusion: heroin users are special social groups . There are many differences between heroin users and normal population on psychological status. There are also many differences among three ethnic groups of heroin users. Based on these differences , different strategies should be taken to control drug abuse including psychological treatment, especially on intervention of high risk group.
