The electrochemical behavior of some bioactive components, such as tetrahydropalmatine, resveratrol and polydatin, in some traditional Chinese medicine have been studied in detail in this thesis, based on which a capillary electrophoresis system with amperometric detection (CZE-AD) has been developed for separation and simultaneous determination of resveratrol and polydatin. The proposed method has been used for determination of resveratrol and polydatin in the real samples of herbs, Chinese medicine and red wines. In the first Chapter, some modern techniques, such as electrochemistry and capillary electrophoresis, used for the analytical study of effective components of traditional Chinese medicine were reviewed. In Chapter 2, the electrochemical behavior of tetrahydropalmatine was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry chronocoulometry and bulk electrolysis with coulometry on a CNT/GC electrode. A simple, quick and sensitive method for detection of tetrahydropalmatine by Square Wave Voltammetry was developed. The method was applied to the determination of tetrahydropalmatine in Chinese herb and medicine with satisfactory results. In Chapter 3 and 4, the electrochemical behaviors of resveratrol and polydatin on a CNT/GC electrode were investigated in detail. A simple, quick and sensitive method for detection of resveratrol and polydatin by Square Wave Stripping Voltammetry was developed. The method was applied to the determination of resveratrol and polydatin in Chinese herb and medicine with satisfactory results. In Chapter 5, based on the investigation of the electrochemical characteristics of resveratrol and polydatin, a method for separation and simultaneous detection of resveratrol and polydatin in Chinese herb, medicine and red wine by capillary electrophoresis with amperometric detection was developed. Under the optimum conditions, the analytes were separated completely within 12 min, and the good results for the real samples were obtained.
