Geum aleppicum Jacq., a kind of herbaceous plant, is widely distributed in the Northeast Asia and North China and especially abundant in Changbaishan area. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine since Ancient China. Its whole plant or root can be used as herbal medicine. They are applied to remove toxic heat, detoxify and have diuresis, detumescence, acesodyne activities.However, the studies on chemical constituents of Geum aleppicum Jacq. haven't been reported at home and at abroad. Yuan Ping-Jiang et. studied on the in vitro antimicrobial effect of the decoction, the water-soluble ingredients and the liposoluble ingredients. Therefore, the researches of chemical constituents of Geum aleppicum Jacq. are carried out in this paper.First, there is a review of advance in study on the chemical constituents and biological activities of the Geum species in this paper. Secondly, there is a systemic experiment on the chemical constituents of the Geum aleppicum Jacq. and a preliminary study about its chemical constituents. Thirdly, we have comparatively studied on the contents of inorganic elements of the roots, stems and leaves of the Geum aleppicum Jacq. Finally, 5 compounds are firstly isolated and identified from the whole plant of the Geum aleppicum Jacq.. The structures of those compounds are elucidated by 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. They are: gallic aldehyde(Ⅰ) , 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid ethyl ester(Ⅱ) ,Vanillin(Ⅲ),daucosterol(Ⅳ) andβ-sitosterol(Ⅴ)。...
