With the social and economic development, our living standardincreases step by step and generally the average life span of humanbeings has become longer, therefore, the ageing of populationbecomes more and more prominent. The problems of senior citizenshave become those that the present world focuses attention upon.Some information indicates that the most important factor decidingstate of health of senior citizens is their lifestyle. Hence, it is of greatsignificance to have a study on the relationship between state of healthand lifestyle of senior citizens. Research Purpose: The purpose of this research is to find outstate of health and lifestyle of senior citizens in Changchun andanalyze the relationship between their state of health andhealth-promoting lifestyle. Research Methodology: This research adopts the design ofdescriptive and relativity research and uses the convenient samplingway to sample 250 senior citizens at the age between 60 and 74. Theresearcher has carried out a research on all of them by filling inquestionnaires and all the data has been input into SPSS10.0 softwarebundle for a statistic analysis. Research Tool: The questionnaire consists of four parts: ShortPortable Mental Status Questionnaire (SPMSQ) worked out byPfeiffer in 1975 and emended by Chi and Boey in 1992 to selectsenior citizens sound in intelligence for the research;the data recordform of demography made by the researcher herself;Self-rated HealthMeasurement Scale (SRHMS) made by Xu Jun and others andHealth-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP) studied and developed byPender, Walker and others.Research Findings: 76.8% out of the interviewees in theresearch are in good health or better;58% out of them observe a goodor better lifestyle;38.8% observe an ordinary lifestyle;state of healthand lifestyle of the interviewees interrelate with each other at a middledegree (Spearman's r=0.349,P<0.01), and state of health andself-realization (Spearman's r=0.378, P<0.01), nutrition (Spearman'sr=0.413, P<0.01) and dealing with pressure (Spearman's r=0.352,P<0.0.1) in health-promoting lifestyle interrelate with each other at amiddle degree respectively.Conclusion:(1) Generally speaking, the level of state of health of seniorcitizens in communities of Changchun City is very high, hereinto,self-rated the level of psychological health is not satisfactory.(2) Generally speaking, the level of lifestyle of senior citizens incommunities of Changchun City is very high, hereinto, nutrition levelis the best and physical exercise is the worst.(3) State of health and lifestyle of senior citizens in communitiesof Changchun City interrelate with each other, hereinto, state of healthand self-realization, nutrition and dealing with pressure inhealth-promoting lifestyle interrelate with each other at a middledegree respectively.In line with the conclusion of the research, this thesis putsforward some viewpoints and proposals for nursing practice andrelevant nursing education, nursing administration and nursingscientific research on senior citizens in communities of ChangchunCity and does a favor for the further research on nursing seniorcitizens in communities.
