Objective: The depression of elderly inpatients with digestive system disease were investigated with the Geriatric Depression Scale.To understand the relationship between depressive state and multiple clinical factors in elderly inpatients,and discuss its characteristics,and then improve the cognitive level of gastroenterologists on depression in the senile patients.Methods: 305 inpatients over 60 years old with digestive system diseases were selected.They were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Qing Hai University from November 2016 to November 2017.They were investigated on the second day of admission and one day before discharge with the GDS(Score?11 points).Their clinical data(gender,age,religious belief,years of education,occupation,residence,annual income,pension mode,combination of other chronic diseases,digestive system disease and course of disease and so on)were also collected.And then all the data collected were analyzed.Results: 1.The number of patients with depression at admission was 111(36.4%),the number of patients without depression at admission was 194(63.6%),the number of patients with depression at discharge was 70(23.0%),the number of patients without depression at discharge was 235(77.0%).These two groups were compared with each other,which was statistical significance(P<0.05).But,comparison of the degree of depression between groups was no significant difference(P>0.05).2.Whether the occurrence of depressive state in patients at admission,there was difference among sex,years of education,annual income,occupation,residence,and the number of combined other chronic disease(P<0.05);Whether the occurrence of depressive state in patients at discharge,there was statistical significance between annual income and residence(P<0.05).Conclusions: 1.The occurrence ratio of depression in the elderly inpatients with digestive system diseases is higher,which is related to the physiological and psychological characteristics of senior citizens.With the process of diagnosis and treatment and the improvement of patients? condition,the occurrence ratio of depression of inpatients can be decreased to a certain extent.2.In elderly inpatients,people who are women,peasants,living in rural areas,low education years,low annual income,combined with multiple other chronic diseases have high occurrence ratio of depression.Such people should be treated early with psychological intervention.3.In elderly inpatients,age,nationality,religious belief,pension mode,marital status,payment methods,hospitalization,course of disease and whether they are neoplastic disease have little effect on occurrence of depression.
