Objective: To study the microsurgical treatment and its long-term outcome of posterior interosseous nerve compressionsyndrome. Methods: A retrospective analysis of fifteen patients whichwere treated by microsurgical operation for posterior in-terosseous nerve compression syndrome from December 2003 toOctober 2005 was performed. The anatomic compressionstructures and nerve compression neuropathy and surgicalmethods were analyzed intraoperatively. The outcome werefollowed -up after operation. Results: Paralysis most recovered in 15 patients treated bythe microsurgical treatment. Conclusion: Anatomic structures that may compress theposteritor interosseous nerve should be carefully exploredduring the operation. Good outcome will be met if the treatmentcan be done according to the degree of compression neuropathy.
