The concept of the metal vector is proposed by Professor Yu, and it has been used to the supramolecular self-assembly. In this paper, we used this concept to construct interesting supramolecular structure, such as regular molecular triangle, bowl-shaped, crown-shaped.The main concepts summarized as follows:Part I. General introduction and conclusionIn the first part, the development of supramolecular chemistry and the metal vector is described. Recent progress in the research on the supramolecular of three kinds of molecular assemblies is reviewed, which contains (i) supramolecular chemistry, (ii) supramolecular self-assembly, (iii) manipulated supramolecular slef-assembly by the metal vector. The potential applications and future development of the research on the supramolecular self-assembly are discussed.Part II. Synthesis, characterization of the metal vectorsIn the second part, several novel metal vectors have been devised and synthesized. All of these metal vectors have been characterized by 1H NMR and elemental analysis.Part III. Self-assembly of the chiral metallacalixareneIn the third part, self-assembly of crown-shaped, trimetal spanned metallacalixarene with a general formula of [M3L3]6+ (where M = (RRdiph)Pd(II) or (SSdiph)Pd(II)) is described (diph = diphenyl ethylenediamine, L = 4, 7-phenanthroline). All complexes have been measured by solution NMR spectra and elemental analysis. X-ray crystallographic analysis has revealed the crown-shaped structur. Experimental results show that all of these complexes exhibit (syn, syn, syn) conformation either in solution or in solid.Part IV. Self-assembly of the achiral metallacalixareneThe former segment, we studies the interaction of 4,7-phenanthroline and the chiral metal vectors in the self-assembly reaction, and several chiral metallacalixarene are gained. On the theory of manipulated supramolecular slef-assembly by the metal vector basis, this section we investigates the interaction of the achiral metal vector and organic ligand (4,7-phenanthroline and Lehn ligand) in the self-assembly reaction, and regular molecular triangle and bowl-shaped achiral metallacalixarene are gained. All of them have been measured by solution NMR spectra. With the development of science and technology, science of biology has become more and more important. As a main materials of life process-protein, it has excited greatinterest across of wide range of scientific enthusiasm among scientists in recent years. Serum albumins (SA) are the most abundant proteins in blood plasma. The most outstanding property of serum albumins is they serve as a depot protein and transport protein for numerous endogenous and exogenous compounds. Among the exogenous substances bound with a high affinity to protein are drugs. Therefore, the study of the interaction between small molecules and serum albumins is a very important task in the fields of life science and chemistry. In this work, complex of rutin-Mn are synthesized, and the interaction between rutin, rutin-Mn complex and serum albumins is studied using UV-vis, fluorescence spectra and electrochemical methods. The main content consists of three partsPart I. Development in the interaction of rutin, rutin-Mn complex with serum albuminsThis review provides a simple introduction to the development of the interaction between rutin, rutin-Mn complex with serum albumins. Reports about great enthusiasm in the synthesis of the complex of transition metal medicine, the interaction of the transition metal complexes with serum albumins are very few in the world. It is expected to explore the mechanisms of interaction that are used to offer an opportunity to understand which parameters affect the binding mode and binding affinity to serum albumins.Part II. Synthesis, characterization of rutin-Mn complexThe UV-vis absorption spectra of complexes of rutin and transition metal in the solution have been reported, but there is scarcely any present about transition metal complexes of rutin and biology macromolecule. In view of the uniqueness of transition metal ions for medicine, and the importance of metal chelation in the antioxidant behavior of rutin, herein, we present the synthesis of the rutin-Mn complexes. Elemental, thermogravimetric analyses, molar conductance, IR, UV-vis, are used to characterize the compound.Part III. Study on the interaction of rutin-Mn complex with serum albuminsBased on this study, the interaction of rutin-Mn complex with serum albumins (BSA and HSA)has been studied by fluorescence and UV-vis spectra and the binding contants K (rutin-Mn-BSA: 3.1×108, 8.7×105; rutin-Mn-HSA: 3.3×107, 2.7×105) and the number of binding sites n (rutin-Mn-BSA: 1.8, 1.2; rutin-Mn-HSA: 1.6, 1.1) have been obtained. The fluorescence quenching mechanism of rutin-Mn to BSA and HSA has been discussed. Interaction of the rutin-Mn complex with serum albumins has also been characterized under an electrochemical point of view. When BSA was added in the rutin-Mn solution, both reduction and oxidation peak currents of rutin-Mn decreased with no shift in the peak potentials. Implying that an electrochemical inactive suparmolecular system of BSA and rutin-Mn was formed.
