ObjectiveTo develop a new kind of herbal humidified fluid, which can reduce the rate of contamination of humidified fluid in oxygen administration and prevent the occurrence of nosocomial pneumonia.MethodsTo be divided into two periods. The first period is the laboratory research of compound Coptis chinensis liquid as humidified fluid. Its objective is to confirm the bacteriostatic effect of compound Coptis chinensis liquid and determine the best concentration of it when used in clinic. The second period is the clinical research of compound Coptis chinensis liquid. 30 patients in some hospital, who need oxygen administration for more than 24 hours, were chosen and equally divided into two groups. In cross-over design method the clinical research was divided into two stages (â… ,â…¡). One group was given distilled water as humidified fluid onâ… stages, then compound Coptis chinensis liquid onâ…¡stages. The other group was given compound Coptis chinensis liquid as humidified fluid onâ… stages, then distilled water onâ…¡stages. To do the bacterium culture and count of all these humidified fluid samples before they are replaced. Its aim was to compare the different clinical application effects between compound Coptis chinensis liquid and distilled water. And to determine the replace time of compound Coptis chinensis liquid. At the same time, the questionnaires are given out to investigate the comfort level of oxygen administration.ResultThere is statistical difference between Compound Coptis chinensis liquid and distilled water as humidified fluid on the number of bacteria(P<0.01). There is also statistical difference on the rate of qualifiedness when examining these samples(P<0.001). There is statistical difference on the feeling of oxygen administration between the two kinds of humidified fluid(P<0.001). There is also statistical difference on the feeling of uncomfortableness in throat after oxygen administration(P<0.01). At the same time the replace time of compound Coptis chinensis liquid is determined as 48 hours.ConclusionCompound Coptis chinensis liquid can reduce the rate of contamination of humidified fluid and prevent the occurrence of nosocomial pneumonia; It can improve the comfort level of oxygen administration with the help of the fresh and sweet smell of Chrysanthemum; It can also...
