Analysis And Clinical Significance Of Soluble Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1,Interleukin 6 And Matrix Metalloproteinase-1 In Serum In Endometriosis

Objective: To study the role of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1), interleukin 6(IL-6) and matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) in serum of endometriosis, and to investigate the relationship between these parameters, so as to provide some scientific evidences for clinical monitoring, evaluation and interventions. Method of study: The concentration of sICAM-1, DL-6 and MMP-1 in serum were determined in patients undergoing endometriosis and normal controls, and the results of these parameters concentration were compared between the groups. Thirty patients with endometriosis (including 13 cases with I — II stages and 17 cases with III ～ IV stages )and thirty healthy female were enrolled in this study. Quantitative determination of levels of sICAM-1 . IL-6 and MMP-1 were performed using sandwich enzyme-linked immunoassays (ELISA) technique. The correlations between the serum sICAM-1, IL-6 and MMP-1 levels and BMI, pelvic pain, history of infertility and presence of leiomyoma were analyzed by the correlative analysis. Results: The concentration of sICAM-1 levels in serum were not significantly different between the groups and between follicular and luteal phase, and the higher concentrations were found in more serious endometriosis. The concentration of IL-6 in the endometriosis group in serum was significantly higher than those observed in the normal group and there is no difference during menstrual cycle, and the higher concentrations were found in more serious endometriosis. Besides, the MMP-1 concentration in serum were similar in two groups and have no relation with endometriosis progress. However, the MMP-1 levels in serum in patients follicular phase was significantly higher than the controls follicular phase.
