PARTâ… Objective: To analysis the proportion and clinical feature of ischemic stroke subtypes according to the OCSP criteria. Methods: Data was prospectively collected from 515 consecutive ischemic stroke inpatients in our departments from 1 August 2004 to 31 August 2005. all included inpatients were classified into 4 major ischemic stroke subtypes based on the clinical situation, according to the OCSP criteria. We also analyzed the clinical feature of the different subtypes. Results: Five hundred and fifteen inpatients were included in the study. The proportion of the different ischemic stroke subtype according to OCSP criteria was as follows: total anterior circulation infarcts 7.4% , partial anterior circulation infarcts 33.4%, lacunar infarcts 50.9%, posterior circulation infarcts 8.3% .The time of morbility showed double humps. The highest was from six clock to twleve clock , the next was from twleve clock to eighteen clock. The time of morbility among different subtypes was not significantly different. The most ischemic stroke inpatients(67.8%) could not visit the hospital in six hours after onset. The visiting rate of total anterior circulation infarcts was the highest in all subtyes. The maxlmum rate of both concurrent infection and hemorrhagic cerbral infarction in course in all subtypes was total anterior circulation infarcts, and the mininum was lacunar infarcts. Conclusions: The OCSP classification based on the clinical situation of patients could provide information to predict patients'condition for us.
