Currently, the remedy and rehabilitation therapies constitute the methods which be used for treating the patients after stroke. Thrombolytic therapy is regarded as an effective way to treat ischemic stroke nowadays, but it may accompany hemorrhage. With the development of the modern neuroscience, the establishment of neurogenesis in the adult brain which provides a novel strategy for structural brain repair, where the component neurons can be replaced and the functional circuitry restored in the ischemic brain. To date, Bu Yang Huan Wu Decoction (BYHWD) is the effective formula to treat stroke and its sequelae in clinic, originated from Dr. Qingren Wang, a well-known physician in Qing Dynasty. BYHWD have been focused on neuroprotection about its mechanism, but it is seldom reported its effect on postischemic neural function repair. So it is valuable to study the neurogenesis...
