Studies On The Chemical Constituent Of Sarcandra Glabra(Thunb.) Nakai

Sarcandra glabra(Thunb.) Nakai has been used as a traditional herbal medicine to treat diseases in China for thousands of years. It mainly distributes in the south of China. In recent years, some references showed that S.glabra has various pharmacological activities, such as anti-inflammation, antivirus, anti-cancer,and so on. And it has been recorded in many Chinese Herb books.In this paper, in order to obtain the chemical constituents , the EtOH extract of S.glabra was studied. Thirty compounds were isolated and purified by various chromatographic methods, such as silica gel column chromatography,macroporous resin column chro- matography and so on. According to physiochemical properties and related literature data, Twenty compounds of them were identified by spectroscopic methods. They were identified as: isofraxidin(7),fraxin(20), quercetin(11),hyperoside(18),isoliquiritin(19),kaempferol(8),succinic acid(12),fumaric acid(13), caffeic acid(9), palmitic acid(1), β-sitosterol(3), daucosterol(17), Sarcandranolide A(5) , ursolic acid(6) , a-amyrin acetate(10) , protocatechuicaldehyde(4) , linalool(2) , D-mannitol(15) , 5-hydroxymethyl-furfural (16),surcose(14). Among them, Sarcandranolide A was a new compound and compounds 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19 were isolated from the genus for the first time.
