The further chemical investigation on the antiviral part of Isatis indigotica Fort. were carried out by the means of many kinds of chromatographic methods. And thirteen natural compounds were obtained, while twelve of them were indentified by spectroscopic methods and physiochemical properties compared with the data in the references.Among them, compound N-6 was a new compound which was identified as 3-(3-pyrrole)-6-hydroxy-7-hydroxymethyl-isocoumarin(indigotiisocoumarin A).The other compounds were elucidated as respectively indirubin (N-1), salicylic acid ( N-2), (+)-isolariciresinol (N-3), 5-hydroxymethyl -furadehyde (N-5), 5-hydroxymet-hyl -furoic acid (N-7), uracil (N-8), n-butyl-β-D-fructopyronoside (N-9), adenine (N-10 ), syringin (N-11), adenosine (N-12), indigoticoside A (N-13) ,meanwhile, N-11 was isolated from Isatis genus for the first time. The pharmacological test showed that ethyl acetate extract fraction and n- butanol e-xtract fraction had strong antiviral effects in vitro.
