Objective: To investigate the expression of Survivin and VEGF in tissue of prostatecarcinoma and the correlation between them, In order to evaluate the effect of both survivin and VEGF in occurring, developing of the tumor and formation of the blood vessels, providing a approach for the diagnosis and treatment of the tumor. Methods: The expression of Survivin and VEGF in 22 normal prostate (NP), 47benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) and 59 prostate carcinoma (Pca) was examined with immunohistochemistry. Results: (1) There is no Survivin expressed in NP and BPH, while it expressed in67% of the prostate carcinoma which is significantly higher than the former two groups( P<0.001). The expression of VEGF is on the rise from NP to BPH and Pca, which is 18.2%, 51.1% and 74.6% respectively.(2) In Pca group, the expression of Survivin is 67.8%, which is closely related to the grading and clinical staging of prostate carcinoma(P<0.01); the expression of VEGF is 74.6%, which is relevant to the clinical staging of prostate carcinoma but not to the grading(P>0.05).(3) In the Pca group, the expression of Survivin and VEGF in the metastasized and non-metastasized lymphonodes is 82.5% ,54.8% ; 89.9%, 61.3% respectively . These two proteins is closely related to the lymphonode metastasis of prostate carcinoma.(4) The expression of Survivin and VEGF is positively correlated in prostate carcinoma. Conclusion: (1) The expression of Survivin is closely related to the initiationand proliferation of prostate carcinoma. And with immunohistochemistry method, it can be efficiently detected that Survivin expressed in prostate carcinoma, but not in...
