Objective: To investigate distributive characteristic of Langerhans cells on abnormal scars and the correlation between the Langerhans cells and the genesis of keloid. Methods: Iramunohistochemical chemical technique (S-P method) was performed to observe the distributive characteristic of Langerhans cells and the expression of S-100 protein and CDIa in the abnormal scars (30 keloids and 30 hypertrophic scars) and 10 samples skin controls; Using electronmicroscope technique, we study the ultraucture of Langerhans cells in the three kinds of tissues . Results: 1. Most of S-100 protein positivecells ( Langerhans cells ) were significantly differently distributed in the abnormal scars. They concentrated on prickle cell layer, and small parts of those lay in basal cell layer. The profiles of langerhans cells in the abnormal scars were like the bulb, polygon, brilliant, or the shuttle. Many cell protuberances were larger and big or extreme intumescence. Protuberances of many langerhans cells contached with each other. 2. Under light microscope of CDIa immune response positive cells , theirs morphologic characteristics and distribution were similar with S-100 positive cells. Langerhans cells concentrated on prickle cell layer, and small parts of those lay in basal cell layer, but they were significantly differently distributed in the cicatricial tissue. 3. Density of S-100 and CDIa immune response positive cells of hypertrophic scar was about 781. 33±104. 38/mm~2 and 774. 67±88. 19/mm~2 , that of keloid was about 781. 33 ± 98. 39/mm~2 and 777. 33 ± 94. 94/mm~2, that of normal skin controls was about 428. 00 ± 50. 7/mm~2 and 414. 00±59.67 /mm~2 and that of aged scar was 405. 33 ± 74. 08/mm~2 and 396. 00...
