Objective: To investigate the method and effect for treatment of thoracolumbar vertebral burst fractures without neurological injury by the method of pedicle screw fixator with bone graft of vertebral body via pedicle with artificial bone of biologic glass, and consider its indications and biologic glass using.Methods: At the standard of Denis, 26 cases of thoracolumbar vertebral burst fractures which 8 cases suffered osteoporosis were treated by combining pedicle screw fixation and bone graft of vertebral body via pedicle with artificial bone of biologic glass. All of cases are single vertebral fractures, and range of vertebral destroy is ruled by LSC scale of McCormack, and osteoporosis is ruled by grade osteoporosis of Jikei.Result: In a total of 26 cases, all patients' pain distinctly relieved. The height and configuration of centrum came back obviously. All fractures reached osteal concrescence and Cobb angle improved. After an average of 21 months followed up, no complication and no increasing of Cobb angle occurred in all cases.Conclusion: Application of combining pedicle screw fixation and bone graft of vertebral body via pedicle can reconstruct vertebral shape and height, and increase the stability of the spine, and reduce the possibility of breaking of nail and other complications. Meanwhile it is a good minimal invasive method in treatment of osteoprotic vertebral fractures without neurological injury. Biologic glass can induce growth of bone and accelerate concrescence of bone. It is a good kind of material in bone graft.
