Objective:To investigate the Loss of Heterozygosity (LOH) at chromosome 1p36 in the pathogenesis of invasive breast cancers, and explore the effect of p73 gene on the development and progression in breast cancer. Methods:Fifty paired breast cancer/normal tissue DNA samples were examined for LOH at chromosome 1p36 using 8 polymorphic microsatellite loci. The PCR products were electrophoresed on 8% denatured polyacrylamide gel and detected using silver staining. At the same time, immunohistochemistry staining method was used to show the expression status of p73 and hMSH2 protein in tumor tissue. Finally, the above results were compared to the clinicopathological parameters using statistical analysis. Results: 1.LOHIn 50 cases of breast cancers, LOH was identified in 27 cases ( 54.0%) at least in one MS locus. MS locus D1S1310 showed the highest rate of LOH (35.4%). 2. The expression of p73 protein...
