Objective: The developing changes of S100 protein and NSE before and after isoflurane was used had been observed in infants undergoing open-heart operation with cardiopulmonary bypass. The mechanisms of the pre-using isoflurane to decrease the delivery of the S100 and NSE were studied, which supply enough experimental evidences for the use of inhalation anesthetic in pediatric brain protection during CPB.Methods: 42 infants with congenital heart diseases, less than 3 years old, were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. In experimental group, all infants had been inhaled 1~1.5 MAC isoflurane for 60-100 minutes after intubation until CPB, and in the control group, no other gas anesthetic was inhaled throughout the operation. The S100 and NSE in serum of the two groups were detected at different time point, and all data was analyzed with statistics methods. Results: There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group before operation as far as the content of S100...
