Objective The study investigated the influences of Oxymartrine and Sophoridine in the seizure rats induced by penicillin on behavior evaluation, electroencephalogram(EEG), the concentration of MDA,the activity of SOD and the tissue shape in the rat hippocampus. We explored the antiepileptic role of Oxymartrine (OMT) and Sophoridine (SOP). Methods We established models of epilepsy induced by administration of 800million u/kg Penicillin.According to different index, rats were divided into nine groups. Then referring to Racine standard,we judged rat grade and recorded latent period after epilepsy, recorded rats cortex EEG using BL-420 biology enginery experiment system and compare EEG amplitude change, inspected the concentration of MDA and the activity of SOD in the rats brain tissue by spectrometer, observed brain tissue change by optics microscope and electric microscope. Results The epilepsy model that was administrated large dosage penicillin was successful. Middle, high dose groups of Oxymartrine and low dose group of Sophoridine could obviously prolong the latencies of epileptic seizure, and reduced seizure degree compared with penicillin group. The three dose groups-50 mg/kg,100 mg/kg and 200mg/kg could improve rats EEG,and decrease 292.92 frequency percent of epilepsy rat EEG induced by penicillin, but the function of 200mg/kg dose group was very evidence. In the three dose groups-2.94 mg/kg,5.88mg/kg and 11.76mg/kg of Sophoridine, only 2.94 mg/kg dose group could improve rat EEG and decrease 292.92 frequency percent of epilepsy rat EEG. We discovered administration of middle, high dose groups of Oxymartrine and low dose group of Sophoridine could decrease the malondialdehyde level and increase the superoxide dismutase...
