[Objective] :To investigate and analyze the expression of TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL), DcR1/TRAIL-R3,DR4/TRAIL-R1 in cervical cancer and normal cervical tissue .To explore the correlation between the expression of TRAIL along with their receptors and the occurrence and development of cervical cancer. To provide experimental materials for clinical cure for cervical cancer.[Method]:The tumor group: 43 cervical cancer patients who were diagnosed at both pathologic aspect and clinical aspect and were received wide hysterectomy admitted in the department of gynecology, The Second Hospital of Shandong University and Shandong Provincial Tumor Hospital from Jan 2004 to Jun 2006.Contrast group: 30 cases of normal cervical tissues. These tissue specimens were all pathologically proved, all patients of cervical carcinoma did not receive radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other therapies before taking operations. The Envision in the immunohistochemistry was applied to examine expressions of the TRAIL, DcR1 and DR4 in these tissue specimens.[Results]: The expression of TRAIL,DcR1,DR4 was observed in the cell membrane and cytoplasm . The rate of positive expression of TRAIL was respectively 41.9%(18/43), 70.0% (21/30) in the cervical cancer tissues and the normal cervical tissues; the positive expression rate of TRAIL in the intermediate and well differentiated carcinoma tissues and that in the poorly differentiated carcinoma tissues is respectively 55.2% (16/29), 14.3% (2/14), there was a statistical significance (P<0.05). The positive expression of TRAIL in cervical cancer was not related with patient's age, stage, lymphoid node diversion and tissue type. The rate positive expression of DcR1 in these tissues was respectively 23.3% (10/43), 56.7% (17/30), there was a statistical significance (P<0.05) the positive expression rate of DcR1 in the intermediate and well differentiated carcinoma tissues and that in the poorly differentiated carcinoma tissues is respectively 20.7% (6/29), 28.6% (4/14), there was not a statistical significance (P>0.05). The positive expression of DcR1 in cervical cancer was not related with patient's age ,stage ,lymphoid node diversion and tissue type, The rate positive expression of DR4 was respectively 76.7% (33/43), 53.3% (16/30), there was a statistical significance (P<0.05). the positive expression rate of DR4 in the intermediate and well differentiated carcinoma tissues and that in the poorly differentiated carcinoma tissues was respectively 82.8% (24/29), 64.3%(9/14), there was not a statistical significance (P>0.05). The positive expression of DR4 in cervical cancer was not related with patient's age, stage, lymphoid node diversion and tissue type.[Conclusion] : (1)This research examines the expressions of TRAIL, DcR1 and DR4 in cervical carcinoma and normal cervical tissue, testifying the expressions might be closely related to the occurrence and development of cervical carcinoma. (2)cervical carcinoma cell might be easily induced cell apoptosis by TRAIL, because it includes high DR4 and low DcR1. (3)TRAIL can become the newly effective anti-tumor medicine.
