| Objective To investigate the expressions of erythropoietin (Epo) and erythropoietinreceptor(EpoR) in cervical cancer and precancerous lesion(cervical intraepithelialneoplasia, CIN).Methods Contents of Epo, EpoR mRNA in 30 cases of cervical cancer were assessedby semi-quantitative RT-PCR, and protein expressions of Epo, EpoR in 50 cases ofcervical cancer and precancerous lesion were analyzed by -immunohistochemistryPV-6000.Results(1) Both Epo and EpoR mRNA expressed in cervical cancer and normal cervix(control group), Epo and EpoR expressed higher in cervical cancer, there wassignificant difference compared with control group (F=11.83,173.73, q=4.83,10.86,P<0.05).(2) Expressions of Epo,EpoR protein were all positive in normal cervix,CIN andcervical cancer, there was significant difference compared with control group (X~2=5.78,15.88,P<0.05), and with the progression of cervical lesion, the expressions ofEpo,EpoR increased significantly.(3) 13.33% of normal cervix expressed Epo, while in CINⅡ-Ⅲ, carcinoma in situ andcervical carcinoma the positive rate of Epo expression was 100%,and there wassignificant difference in its strong positive rate(P<0.05).(4) The expression of EpoR has the same tendency as Epo,but much higher than thatof Epo. There were positive correlations between Epo and EpoR (r=0.57,P<0.05).Conclusion Both Epo and EpoR expressed in cervical cancer and normal cervix, Epoand EpoR expressed higher in cervical cancer; In different cell differentiation ofcervical carcinoma, the lower of cell differentiation, the higher of Epo and EpoR expression. In the same cervical pathological changes ,the expression of EpoR washigher than that of Epo, there were positive correlations between Epo and EpoR;Epoand EpoR may play an important role in the development of cervical cancer. |
