Objiective: To explore the relationship of SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction(ACI) and intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH) in Han population in Hunan Province. Methods: For the case-control study , Polymerase Chain Reaction -Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) is performed to identify the distributions of allele and genotype frequencies of SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism in 155 patients with ACI ,156 patients with ICH and 174 healthy controls, which are same at age and sex. Genotypes of different populations are compared to explore the association between SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism and atherosclerotic cerebral infarction(ACI) and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).Results : a. SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism reveals no significant difference between GG,CG and CC genotype and G and C allelic distribution in ACI patients and controls. The same result is also found between ICH patients and controls.b. The level of TG,TC,HDL-C. SBP and DBP of GG,CG and CC genotypes is not identified significantly different. But the level of LDL-C of GG and CG genotype is significantly higher than CC genotypes, No significant difference was observed between CG and GG genotype. Conclusions: There is no relationship between the SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism and ACI and ICH in Han population in Hunan province; But we found relationship between the SELP C-2123G gene polymorphism and the level of LDL-C.
