Objective: To evaluate the association between the -48A/G polymor-phism of the dopamine type 1 receptor gene and the TaqI polymorphismof the dopamine D2 receptor gene with the incidence of intracerebralhemorrhage in han population of Hunan province. Methods:The study population was comprised of 125 unrelatedChinese CH patients and 115 healthy controls matching age and sex.Poly-merase chain reaction(PCR) combined with restriction enzyme digestionwas used to detect the the -48A/G polymorphism of the dopamine type 1receptor gene and the TaqI polymorphism of the dopamine D2 receptorgene.Results:1. In the study populations, the frequencies of DRD1(-48A/G)genotypes are 63.2 % (AA), 31.3% (AG) and 5.5% (GG),the frequenciesof A/G allele is 0.789/0.211; the frequencies of DRD2 TaqI genotypesare 15.7% (A1A1), 57.0% (A1A2) and 27.3% (A2A2),the frequencies ofA1/A2 allele is 0.442 and 0.558.2. DRD1(-48A/G) polymorphism revealed no significant differenceof genotype and allele distribution in CH patients and controls. There wasno significant difference among the normotensive subgroup of CHgroup, the hypertensive subgroup of CH group and control group in thegenotype frequencies of DRD1(48A/G).3. DRD2 TaqI polymorphism also revealed no significant differenceof genotype and allele distribution in CH patients and controls. There wasno significant difference among the normotensive subgroup of CHgroup, the hypertensive subgroup of CH group and control group in thegenotype frequencies of DRD2 TaqI.4. Even if the influence of risk factors for cerebral hemorrhage wasadjusted by logistic regression, the association between the -48A/G polymorphism of the dopamine type 1 receptor gene and the TaqI polym-orphism of the dopamine D2 receptor gene with the incidence ofintracerebral hemorrhage remained no statistical significance. Conclusions:These findings suggest that the DRD1(-48A/G),DRD2TaqI polymorphisms might not be associated with cerebral hemorrhage inhan population of Hunan province.
