Objective:To study the expression of telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT),survivin and p53 in non-small cell lung cancer, and to explore their correlation and their relationship with various clinicopathological features in NSCLC.Methods:Human telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT)and survivin,p53 were detected in 55 cases of human non-small cell lung cancer and 20 cases of benign lung lesion by In Situ hybridization or immunohistochemistry on the tissue chip, and all data were analysed. Results:Expression of hTERT,Survivin and p53 were detected in a significantly greater proportion of NSCLC(69.1%,72.7%,72.7%)than in benign lung lesions(15%,25%,30%)(P<0.01).The expression of p53 was correlated with the histodifferentiation, and its positive rate increased with the extend of differentiation(P<0.05);The expression of hTERT and Survivin were not associated with the histodifferentiation(P>0.05).there was no relationship of expression of the three markers with tumor extension, histologic type, lymphnode metastasis,TNM stages, age and gender(P>0.05).The expression of hTERT and Survivin correlated with P53(r=0.344,r=0.282,P<0.05);and Survivin showed a positive correlation with hTERT(r=0.269,P<0.05).Conclusion:1,The expression of hTERT,Survivin and p53 in NSCLC suggested that they could be used as tumor markers in the diagnosis of lung cancer.2,The correlation between with p53 and the histodifferentiation suggested that p53 is a factor that affect the prognostic of NSCLC.3,The positive correlation among the expression of hTERT,Survivin and p53 indicated that they may play a synergetic role in the process of carcinogenesis of NSCLC.
