In this study, we made use of SENSE cardiac coil and endorectal coil toperform prostate MRI and Single Voxel ~1H MRS with Philips Intera Achieva1.5 Tesla whole body nuclear magnetic resonance imaging formatter. Thencombining with serum tPSA and f/tPSA, we assessed the prostatic diseasesinitially. The study was divided into two parts:Part One: Contrast Study of the Imaging Quality with SENSECardiac Coil and Endorectal Coil in Prostate MR Imaging. Objective: To contrast the imaging quality in the use of SENSE cardiaccoil and endorectal coil in prostate MRI, and to assess the application value ofSENSE cardiac coil in prostate MRI initially. Materials and Methods: 50patients who suffered from prostatic diseases were selected to be performedprostate MRI scan with SENSE cardiac coil and endorectal coil respectively. The uniformity and contrast-to-noise ratio of the transversal, little FOV, thinslices, T2-Weighted imaging which were obtained by using the two kinds ofcoils were analyzed contrastively. Results: Imaging uniformity andcontrast-to-noise ratio were higher with SENSE cardiac coil than that withendorectal coil (Paired-Samples T Test, P<0.05). Conclusion: In theevaluation parameters of uniformity and contrast-to-noise ratio, higherimaging quality can be obtained by using SENSE cardiac coil, so it can takethe place of the endorectal coil to perform prostate MR T2-weighted imagingof little FOV, thin slices and high resolution in a certain degree.Part Two: Preliminary Assessment of Diagnostic Value in ProstaticDiseases under Single Voxel ~1H MRS Combined with Serum tPSA andf/tPSA Objective: To discuss the feasibility of SENSE cardiac array coil inprostate ~1H MRS imaging, and whether the method of Single Voxel ~1H MRScombined with serum tPSA and f/tPSA could enhance the diagnostic accuracyof prostatic diseases or not. Materials and Methods: 48 men (they weresuffered from prostatic diseases) with complete data were performed theSingle Voxel ~1H MRS imaging with coils which were mentioned above, thenanalysed the ratio of Cho+Cre/Cit which were obtained by using the twodifferent coils in MRS. If the ratio of Cho+Cre/Cit was more than 0.99, PCacould be diagnosed When SNR of Cit could meet the diagnostic request. When SNR of Cit fell to noise level, if the ratio of Cho/Cre was more than 1.5,PCa could be diagnosed. In the aspect of serum PSA examination, if tPSA>40ng/ml, PCa could be diagnosed; if tPSA was situated between 4-40ng/mland f/tPSA<10%, PCa could be diagnosed. Then took the further diagnoseby combining with serum PSA and f/tPSA in the foundation of MRS. Finally,it should be contrasted with pathological results to confirm the diagnosticaccuracy of Single Voxel ~1H MRS examination, serum PSA and combinedexamination. Results: There were no statistical differences in the ratio ofCho+Cre/Cit and consistent results could be obtained by using the twodifferent coils in MRS. In the 48 patients by using MRS, 4 cases weremisdiagnosed and the diagnostic accuracy was 91.67%. According to serumPSA and f/tPSA level, 9 cases were misdiagnosed and the diagnostic accuracywas 81.25%. After combining the two methods, the diagnostic accuracy was100%. Conclusion: SENSE cardiac array coil can take the place of theendorectal coil to perform single Voxel ~1H MRS. The diagnostic accuracy canbe enhanced by combining Single Voxel ~1H MRS with PSA examination.
