| Since autogenous bone graft accompanies dangers of complications and limited resources, it is necessary to search for some artificial bone substitutes for bone defect repair. But single artificial bone graft also has many disadvantages. However, with the development of molecular biology and material biology, it becomes a trend to composite several materials or adding growth factors to promote the ostegenesis property of materials for bone repair. Platelet-rich plasma which is derived from autogenous whole blood possesses high concentration of multiple growth factors. With a positive effect in bone repair, PRP is extensively applied in orthopedics, oral implant surgery and plastic surgery in recent years. The research in this article employs the bovine-derived bone (BDB) particles as the material, in combination with PRP to repair the rabbit mandibular bone defect, with the purpose of evaluating the ostegenesis of the composite, and trying to estimate the effect and mechanism of PRP in bone formation and remodelingThe article is divided into two parts: Review and Animal experimentThirteen New zealand white rabbits were divided in to two groups at random, four per-group, the other one was used as critical size defect controlling group. We established animal modal of rectangular critical size defect about 1.5×0.8 cm in mandibular bone. The left side of mandibular defect was implanted with BDB alone, the right side with PRP/BDB composite. The animals were sacrificed at 1,4, and 8 weeks postoperatively separately. Specimens were analyzed with gross observation, x-ray, CT and histological observation. The results were assessed by Lane-Sandhu Standard. Conclusion: PRP/BDB composite has a positive effect in the process of bone formation and remodeling and accelerateing BDB resorption. |
