Objective:We carried out this study to elucidate the influence of immune function related to the patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor in the later stage by investigating the activity of T-lymphocyte subgroup and its cytokines as IL-2(Th1)and IL-2(Th2)in peripheral blood of them before and after chemotherapy.Methods:78 cases used in the present study were divided into two groups: testing group(43 cases, with gastrointestinal malignant tumor in the later stage) and normal group(25 cases, without malignant tumors). The activity of T-lymphocyte subgroup and its cytokines as IL-2(Th1)and IL-2(Th2)in peripheral blood of the testing group were investigated before chemotherapy and 10 days after chemotherapy with two cycles.A statistical study was done between two groups. Results:Before chemotherapy,T-lymphocyte subset(CD3+,CD4+ and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+)and IL-2 of patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor were significantly lower than that of normal group. The values of CD8+ and IL-10 were increased obviously compared with normal group. After chemotherapy with two cycles, the ratio of CD4/CD8 and IL-10 was higher and lower respectively than that of before chemotherapy in improved(CR+PR)patients in effective group, while the values of them could not reach the level of the normal group. The ratio of CD4/CD8 declined obviously in the chemotherapy ineffective group(PD),while there was no significant difference in the value of IL-10.Conclusion:the immunity of T-lymphocyte subgroup was suppressed in the patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor and the expression of Th2 type cytokines was enhanced. The cellular immunity of patients was improved by killing the tumor cells and removing the immunosuppressive agent after the effective chemotherapy, while that of patients with ineffective chemotherapy continued to decent. So clinical observation to the immunity of the patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor has very important significance, which on the therapeutic effect of chemotherapy and prognosis by investigating the activity of T-lymphocyte subgroup and Th type cytokines before and after chemotherapy.
