Objective: To investigate the effects of Qingfeishenshitang on the protein expression of NF-κBp65 and ICAM-1 in bronchial asthmatic rats model and explore the mechanism of treating asthma with Qingfeishenshitang. Methods: Sixty male Wistar rats were divided into five groups randomly. Then each of them was injected with lml of 10% OVA. After 21 days, they were inhaled with 1% OVA for 20 minutes for 7 days every day and given medicines at the same time. 24 hours after last provocation, we killed all the rats. And then we observed the changes of lung histomorphology and adopted the method of transmission electron microscope histochemistry to observe the ultrastructure change of rats of various groups. The protein expression of NF-κBp65 and ICAM-1 in the lung tissues of all groups were measured by immunohistochemistry. Results: Qingfeishenshitang can change the symptoms of rats in all groups at the time of provocation. And changes of bronchial and pulmonary histopathology in Qingfeishenshitang group were slighter than that of other groups except Dexamethasone group. The protein expression of NF-κBp65 and ICAM-1 of model group were higher than that of other groups. Compared to the model group, the protein expression of NF-κBp65 and ICAM-1 of Qingfeishenshitang group was abated. Conclusion: Qingfeishenshitang can alleviate the airway inflammation and affect the expression of NF-κBp65 and ICAM-1 in bronchial asthmatic rats model.
