Objective:To study the protective effect of aqueous extract of ocimum basilicum on endothelial cell injury inducing by adrenaline and the therapeutic effect of that on the rat models with thromboangitis obliterans. Methods:Models of endothelial injury and thromboangitis obliterans were respectively established via pro injecting adrenaline and injecting lauric acid into the femoral artery of rats. The damaged degree of vascular endothelial cell was evaluated by aorta pectoralis pathologic slice. The content of ET, vWF and t-PA in rat plasma was measured by Radioimmunoassay and ELISA;Observed the changes of physical signs, the indexes of hemorheology and the contents of TXB2 and 6-Keto-PGF1 a in plasma of thromboangitis obliterans rats following the treatment with aqueous extract of ocimum basilicum. Results:Compared to those of the model group, aqueous extract of ocimum basilicum can significantly lessen the degree of artery endothelial cell injury, significantly lower the content of ET and vWF in endothelial injury rat plasma and increase the content of t-PA.Meanwhile,significantly improved indexes of hemorhelolgy, decreased content of TXB2 and declined ration of T/K. Conclusion:Aqueous extract of ocimum basilicum presented the protective effect on vascular endothelial cell and significant therapeutic effect on experimental thromboangitis obliterans prepared among rats. The possible mechanisms for this effect may be due to improved the excrete function of vascular endothelial cell, improvement in hemorheology and enhanced anti-thrombus function of vessel endothelia.
